Eat a serving of steamed vegetables from the cruciferous family daily. These include broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower and Brussels sprouts. They're reported to contain a substance that helps reduce excess estrogen by turning the bad estrogens, the kind that can cause cancer, into the healthful ones. When they're steamed, more of the substance that blocks the bad estrogen is released.

Eat organic. More and more studies are showing that pesticides disrupt the endocrine system and cause our fat cells to produce excess estrogen -- the dangerous type of estrogen.

Eat plant foods with lignans. These plant substances are reported to help the liver stop harm from excess estrogen by breaking it down before harm can take place. Flaxseed has the highest amount. Sesame seeds, whole grain flaxseed bread and multi-grain bread (all preferably organic) are more foods that contain many lignans to help reduce excess estrogen.
