1
Wear light colored clothing made of breathable fabric. Darker colors absorb heat, whereas light colors reflect the sun's rays. In addition, light cottons with a fine weave allow airflow and decrease perspiration.
-
2
Stay away from foods or beverages that contain caffeine, alcohol or spices. All of these substances increase metabolism and contribute to sweating.
-
3
Use an antiperspirant to control sweating. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, Secret Clinical Strength is an effective over-the-counter antiperspirant. Odaban is an antiperspirant that can be purchased online and used for multiple body areas including the armpits, hands, genitals, feet and face. Apply antiperspirants after a nighttime shower and when your body is completely dry. Apply again in the morning to discourage perspiration.
-
4
Avoid the heat. Keep the temperature in your home and car at 75 degrees or lower so you stay cool.
-
5
Consider Botox injections to stop perspiration. According to the Mayo Clinic, Botox inhibits the sweat glands from functioning, however, treatment can be expensive and painful.
-
6
Talk to your doctor. Prescription medications such as glycopyrrolate and ditropan can be taken orally to inhibit sweat glands. Prescription topical ointments that contain these drugs can be prescribed to stop perspiration as well.
