I am 16 and i think may be pregnant having symptoms but mi period came on the 17th its already off which is not normal for me HELP PLEASE?
Irregular periods are common during adolescence. It can take several years for your menstrual cycle to become regular after you first start getting your period. So, missing a period or two, or having an unusually heavy or light period is not necessarily a sign of pregnancy.
Common pregnancy symptoms include:
- Fatigue
- Nausea and vomiting (morning sickness)
- Tender, swollen breasts
- Frequent urination
- Bloating
- Mood swings
- Constipation
- Food cravings or aversions
- Headaches
- Backaches
Pregnancy tests are the only way to know for sure if you are pregnant. Home pregnancy tests are available at most drug stores and are easy to use. You can take a home pregnancy test as early as the first day of your missed period. However, it's best to wait until at least a week after your missed period for the most accurate results.
If you're pregnant, there are a number of resources available to help you:
- Planned Parenthood provides free or low-cost pregnancy testing and counseling. They can also help you find a prenatal care provider.
- The National Pregnancy Hotline offers free, confidential support 24/7 at 1-800-672-2296.
- The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has a website with information about pregnancy and resources available to pregnant women.
If you're not pregnant, there are still a number of reasons why your period may have come early or been unusually heavy or light:
- Stress
- Illness
- Thyroid problems
- Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
- Weight gain or loss
- Certain medications
If you're concerned about your period, it's always a good idea to talk to your doctor.
