Does a UTI stop you from having menstrual periods?

A urinary tract infection (UTI) does not typically stop menstrual periods from occurring. Menstruation is a natural process that involves the shedding of the lining of the uterus (womb) and is regulated by hormones. A UTI, on the other hand, is an infection that affects the urinary system, mainly the bladder, urethra, and sometimes the kidneys. While a UTI can cause various symptoms, such as frequent urination, pain or burning during urination, and abdominal discomfort, it does not directly interfere with the menstrual cycle or prevent periods from happening.
