Phytoestrogen is estrogen derived from plants. It is not as strong as the estrogen produced by the body. Like HRT, phytoestrogen creams can also have side effects.

Phytoestrogen Acne

• Breaking out in acne might be a possible side effect. Phytoestrogen can cause pimples to form, which is not a severe health problem, although it may cause annoyance.

Other Medications and Phytoestrogen Cream

• Using phytoestrogen creams can interfere with other medication you might be taking. If you are currently on HRT or birth control, phytoestrogen creams may render the medications ineffective.

Safety

• Using phytoestrogen cream in the long term has not been studied. Scientists need to do more research to determine what effect phytoestrogen cream has on menopausal symptoms, and if it is safe for long-term use.
