Adrenocortical insufficiency, also called Addison's disease, adrenal insufficiency or hypocortisolism, is a disorder of the adrenal glands that affects people of all ages. Use Cortef as prescribed by your doctor. Do not skip doses or stop taking this medication without consulting with your doctor first. Sudden discontinuation of Cortef may cause withdrawal symptoms.

Avoid contact with sick or infectious people while taking Cortef. Conditions such as measles and chicken pox can be dangerous or even fatal for people using steroids.
