Are germs destroyed by the red blood cells?

Germs or microorganisms such as bacteria or viruses are not destroyed by red blood cells. Red blood cells primarily carry oxygen and remove carbon dioxide, contributing to gas exchange in the body.

The immune system has various mechanisms to eliminate and control germs. Specialized white blood cells like neutrophils, macrophages, and T cells play a crucial role in destroying and fighting pathogens. Additionally, antibodies produced by the immune system interact with germs, marking them for destruction by immune cells or preventing their infectivity.
