Side Effects of Curam

Curam is a medication made up of a combination of amoxycillin and potassium elavulanate used in the treatment of infections in the body caused by bacteria. The medication works by killing and suppressing the growth of bacteria that leads to these infections. As is the case with most medications, there are a number of side effects that have been associated with use.
  1. Common Side Effects

    • Some common side effects include vomiting, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, back pain, tiredness, insomnia, itching, rash, indigestion, abdominal pain and hot flashes. While these are considered the most common side effects associated with using this drug, they only affect a small number of users.

    Severe Side Effects

    • Unfortunately, there are also a number of severe side effects associated with using Curam. Some of these side effects include bloody diarrhea, severe chills, fever, sore throat, seizures, unusual bleeding and bruising, shortness of breath, yellowing of the skin and mouth and severe blisters. These side effects are extremely rare and do not affect a large number of users.

    Important Safety Information

    • Be sure to always use your medication for the entire course of treatment even if symptoms go away within the first week to ensure that the infection has completely rid itself from your body. Curam has been known to cause dizziness and drowsiness in some users and it is strongly recommended that users do not operate any type of machinery whiling using this drug. Always store Curam away from sources of moisture and at room temperature.

    Use

    • Always use this medication exactly as it was prescribed by your doctor and never in dosages larger than what has been recommended on the label. Curam is administered in tablet form and should be taken with a full glass of water. The medication should be taken immediately before a meal and should never be taken with alcohol. If you miss a dose, take the next one as soon as possible. Never take two doses at once.

    • If you experience any side effects, contact your physician immediately.

      If an overdose is suspected, contact the poison control center and head directly to the nearest emergency room.

      Curam is meant to treat bacterial infections only and should not be used for any other medical purposes unless specifically instructed to do so by a doctor.
