Ivermectin Pyrantel Side Effects

Ivermectin pyrantel is an anti-parasitic medication used in elimination of parasitic organisms in the body. The medication works by eliminating the infections that cause these parasites to present themselves, which in turn kills the organisms themselves. As with most anti-parasitic medications, a number of side effects are potentially associated with use.
  1. Common Side Effects

    • As mentioned, certain side effects are associated with using this medication. Some of these side effects include diarrhea, nausea, dizziness, skin rash, itching, vision problems, swelling of the lymph nodes, and swelling of your hands, ankles, or feet. While these are considered the most common side effects associated with using this medication, they only affect a small amount of users.

    Severe Side Effects

    • A number of severe side effects are also associated with using ivermectin pyrantel. Some of these side effects include sudden vision changes, bowel problems, urinary infections, lack of coordination, confusion, weakness, eye swelling and pain, eye redness, and convulsions. Important Safety Information

    • If you have liver disease or any related liver problems, you may not be able to take ivermectin pyrantel or may need an adjusted dosage. Some users will require re-treatment after their first dosage throughout the next year to ensure that the infection stays clear.

    Use

    • Always use ivermectin pyrantel exactly as it was prescribed by your doctor and never in dosages that exceed what has been recommended on the label. Regular examinations of your stool will be required by your doctor to ensure that the parasite has rid itself from your body. If stored at home, the drug should be kept at room temperature and away from sources of moisture.
