Garlic Yeast Infection Remedy
Having a yeast infection is part of being a woman. Just about every woman will experience a yeast infection at least once in her life. There are many over-the-counter medications that can cure yeast infections, but they're both messy and pricey. Garlic can be used as a natural alternative to those expensive applicators.-
The Facts
-
Vaginal yeast infections can occur when new yeast is introduced to the vagina, or when the yeast that is already present in the vagina increases relative to the amount of normal bacteria. These infections can happen to anyone, but they mostly occur in pregnant women, women with diabetes, women who take oral contraceptives, and women who are undergoing chemotherapy.
Symptoms of a Yeast Infection
-
Yeast infections have several often painful symptoms, such as soreness, burning, pain during intercourse, and an odorless, thick, whitish discharge. Itching in the vulvar and vaginal areas is the most common symptom that women complain of when they are suffering from a vaginal yeast infection. It is important to refrain from sexual intercourse when you have a vaginal yeast infection, because you can pass it on to your partner and he can pass it back to you. This results in a never-ending chain of infection being passed back and forth.
Garlic to Treat Yeast Infections
-
Garlic is able to kill vaginal yeast infections because garlic is a natural yeast killer. If you put garlic in bread dough before you let it rise, it will kill the yeast and you will be left with a hard rock instead of dough. This same principle is used to treat yeast infections. The garlic method works best if you catch the infection as soon as it starts. To use this home remedy you will need a fresh clove of garlic, a needle, and some thread. Thread your needle, using about four inches of thread. Peel the skin off the clove of garlic, then slide your threaded needle through the middle of the clove. Take the needle off of the thread and tie the ends, making a loop. Now you will need to insert the clove of garlic inside your vagina, leaving the thread loop hanging down. You will use the loop to take the garlic clove out in the morning. This method works best if you do it at night, because you will be able to taste the garlic while it's inside your vagina. It wouldn't be pleasant for you, or for others, if you had garlic breath all day! If you don't have a needle and thread, you can insert the garlic without it, but it will be a bit harder to get out because you will have to use your finger. This method often clears up the yeast infection after the first night, but for some women it may take a few more nights to clear up completely.
