Avoid the cause of the liver damage or most of them. Avoid alcohol. Check your medications to see which ones could cause liver damage. If you are not sure, check with your doctor or pharmacist. Reduce the amount of sugar and fats in your diet. Taking the cause out of your life will help to treat liver damage.

Search deeper for an answer to the cause of liver damage if none of the above explains it. It could be caused by a bacterial infection, a virus, an injury, a nutritional deficiency, and even an abnormality that has been there since you were born. Seek out all possible causes so that the liver damage is treated properly.

Treat liver disease by stopping taking any medications that are not necessary. If it does not help you survive, it is probably not necessary. Bed rest is recommended to help your liver heal. Drink plenty of fluids, most importantly, water to stay hydrated. Discuss this with your doctor to determine the best way to treat your liver damage.
