1
Get out of the sun immediately. Go inside an air-conditioned building. If you don't have access to the indoors, get out of the direct sun and into some shade.
-
2
Remove as much of your clothing as you possibly can, especially shoes, socks and hats, as they tend to hold heat.
-
3
Drink plenty of water. Don't guzzle it, but sip as much as you can take in. If you don't have water, drink any liquid you can other than alcohol or caffeinated beverages, which will further dehydrate you.

4
Shower or bathe to help your body cool down. If you can't shower, apply water to your forehead, neck, face and arms to help your body dissipate some of the heat that causes sunstroke.
-
5
Lay flat and elevate your feet to help circulate your blood and help with the headache and dizziness that tends to accompany sunstroke. Stay calm and quiet to help yourself recover.
-
6
Replenish your body's salt supply by drinking a sports drink especially formulated with electrolytes or eating something salty, like crackers.
-
7
Seek immediate medical attention if you don't quickly start to feel better, if you're confused or if you have difficulty speaking or thinking clearly.
