How to Hydrate a Hangover

Most people have tied one on and gone too far at some point in their life. If you're hung over, you've probably got a nasty headache and you don't feel like getting out of bed. Your liver and kidneys are working overtime to filter out the toxins and process them. The best thing you can do to cure a hangover is hydrate. Your organs need fluids to process the toxins in your body and you need to replenish all the fluids you lost the night before.

Instructions

    • 1

Drink at least 8 oz. before you go to bed to get a head start on hydrating your body. If you think you overdid it the night before, make sure to drink even more water before bed. Wake up in the morning and start with a glass of water. Aim for a minimum of 8 oz. of water every hour for at least 8 hours.

    • 2

Pick up a 20 oz. sports drink and hydrate your body with it throughout the day. Look for a sports drink with potassium and sodium to replenish the vitamins and minerals you lost the night before.

    • 3

Hydrate your body with fruit juice. Replenish the glucose you lost the night before and even out your blood sugar with at least 8 oz. of organic juice. Select orange, grapefruit or tomato juice to get an extra boost of Vitamin C.

Mix up a bouillon cube and 8 oz. of water and bring it to a boil. Drink this mixture to replenish the salt and potassium you lost the night before. Be sure to drink an extra 8 oz. of water with your soup to combat the dehydrating effects of sodium.

Drink mineral water to relieve the upset stomach associated with a hangover. Squeeze in a hint of lemon or lime to get a little extra vitamin C into your system.

Pick up an electrolyte-filled drink designed to rehydrate babies. You'll find them in most grocery stores next to the baby supplies.
