How to Increase PTT

A PTT (Partial Thromboplastin Time) test is a blood test that tests your blood's ability to coagulate quickly and efficiently. It is often used in conjunction with a PT (Prothrombin Time) test. If the PTT test shows a decreased blood response, you will want to increase that response. The good news is that, while decreasing response often requires expensive medical procedures, increasing response is much easier. In fact, your body will do so naturally if you treat it right.

Instructions

    • 1

Wait another 24 hours until your next PTT test. This allows whatever blood factor caused the decreased PTT to work its way out of your system.

    • 2

Avoid drinking alcohol or taking any drugs (prescription drugs are an exception).

    • 3

Eat normal amounts of healthy food. Do not eat anything too unusual for your system.

    • 4

Follow your normal exercise routine. If you exercise regularly, go ahead and do so, but do not take on a more strenuous workout than normal. Be sure to hydrate.

    • 5

Retake the test. Since the decreased response was an initial anomaly, an increase is inevitable. The question is, will the increase bring you to normal levels, or will it show that your PTT response is actually too high generally.
