What is the grippe illness?

Influenza, commonly known as flu, is an infectious disease caused by influenza viruses that affect the respiratory system, including the nose, throat, and lungs. It can cause mild to severe illness and, in some cases, can lead to complications and even death.

Symptoms of the flu can include:

- Fever

- Chills

- Muscle aches

- Headache

- Sore throat

- Runny nose

- Congestion

- Sneezing

- Fatigue

- Weakness

- Loss of appetite

- Diarrhea

- Vomiting

The flu spreads from person to person through respiratory droplets produced by coughing, sneezing, or talking. It can also spread by touching surfaces or objects contaminated with the virus and then touching your face, particularly the nose, mouth, or eyes.

The flu is most common during the fall and winter months. However, it can also occur at other times of the year. The best way to prevent the flu is by getting vaccinated every year. Other preventive measures include avoiding close contact with people who are sick, covering your cough and sneezes with a tissue or your sleeve, washing your hands frequently with soap and water, and avoiding touching your face.
