Liver Cleanse While on Antibiotics

The liver performs many functions for a healthy body. It is one of the most important filtering organs. The liver removes toxins and poisons that enter the body. By keeping the liver clean, the body is better able to clean itself. Antibiotics help to kill bacteria and other germs that are causing an infection and/or inflammation. Working in tandem, the liver and the antibiotics work to rid the body of substances that cause illness. It is possible to cleanse the liver while on antibiotics.
  1. Drink Fluids

    • Fluids help to flush out toxins, poisons, bacteria, fungi and viruses that may be in the body. Drinking plenty of fluids each day is necessary for good health. The American Dietetic Association recommends drinking eight cups of water every day in the article Water, Water Everywhere -- How Much Should You Drink? The fluids also flush away debris and dilute any harmful materials. They keep the body hydrated and provide the fluids for blood and urine production.

Water also helps to relieve constipation and increase the frequency of bowel movements, which removes toxic substances in the intestines. Drinking water is beneficial, as are fruit and vegetable juices. In the article Liver Problems, the Mayo Clinic suggests drinking alcohol moderately, if at all, to protect the liver.

    Eat Fiber

    • High-fiber foods are vegetables, whole grains and fruits. These foods are important for good liver health. "The fiber and abundant nutrients in vegetables are a sure way to improve the health of practically any organ you can name, especially the liver,” Andrew Saul writes in the article 15 Ways to Love Your Liver on the DoctorYourself website. “High-fiber foods also help eliminate waste and fecal matter from the body." Saul also points out that freen vegetables are rich in vitamin B, which is necessary for a healthy liver. Citrus fruits such as oranges contain vitamin C, which is known to fight infections.

    Exercise

    • Exercise burns fat and removes toxins stored in fat. A fatty liver is responsible for many diseases. By reducing the amount of fat you eat and by exercising more, the liver is better able to function. The article Weak Liver from the book “Conquering Chronic Diseases Without Drugs or Surgery" by Julia Chang reports, “Exercise stimulates blood circulation and when blood circulates better, all organs function better.” Aerobic exercise such as walking, dancing, biking and swimming help you burn calories and excess fat. Exercise is a good way to not only clean the liver and reduce the fat in a fatty liver, but help all parts of the body.
