Natural Remedy for Vertigo at Home

If you are experiencing sensations of falling, spinning, tilting or dizziness, or even nausea or vomiting, you know the symptoms of vertigo. Not being able to get out of bed, or finding yourself on the floor, can be daunting. Using home remedies, you can have more control over this imbalance, even in the middle of an attack. Remedies for vertigo range from exercise to herbal treatments to common-sense eating.
  1. Exercise

    • The Epley procedure is a method for getting rid of vertigo. You sit on your bed with a pillow behind you.
If you know, which ear has the vertigo, turn your head to that side 45 degrees. Lie back, quickly extend your neck and then rest your head on your bed. Your affected ear should be underneath. Wait 30 seconds. Turn your head 90 degrees to the right--do not raise it--and wait again for 30 seconds. Turn your body and head another 90 degrees to the right, wait another 30 seconds. Now sit up. Do this exercise three times a day until you are symptom-free.

    Remedies

    • Gingko biloba is a natural cure for vertigo because it aids blood flow to your brain. Ginger is another herbal remedy that stops symptoms quickly. Drinking eight glasses of water per day helps. Add 1 tbsp. of coriander seeds to a glass of water overnight. The next day, strain the water and drink.
Black pepper, lemon juice and salt water mixed together are another remedy.

Try taking almonds, pumpkin seeds, 1 tbsp. of poppy seeds and 3 tbsp of wheat, and soak them overnight in water. The next day, grind this into a fine powder. Fry butter with a small spoon of cloves, add the powder and cup of milk to the pan and bring to boil. Drink this once a day until the symptoms stop.

    Tips

    • Do not jerk your head, which can bring on an attack. Always rise slowly. Breathe slow and steady. Avoid amusement parks and virtual games. If you feel vertigo starting, focus on something that is stationary. That will send cues to your brain to stop the dizziness. Eat vitamins and protein-laden foods. Add shavings of lime and lemon to your vegetables and salads. Avoid chocolate, fried foods, iced teas, salts and caffeine. Salty nuts and sweets can also produce dizziness.

Check out some of your medications to make sure they are not causing these symptoms.
