There are more options to treat adults who have thrush. Adults can swish their mouths with a solution that is equal parts water and apple cider vinegar two or three times a day. Apple cider vinegar is a natural antibacterial and antifungal that has no adverse affects on the body. Avoid sugar of all kinds (including alcohol) to help your system regain its natural balance quickly.
Young babies are susceptible to thrush and it may not be immediately recognizable. Thrush leaves creamy-looking white spots on the tongue and inside of the cheeks. It can make your infant fussy because their little mouths hurt, especially when eating. If you breastfeed, once you see these spots, you should not only treat the infant, you should treat your nipples as well to avoid passing it back and forth between you and your baby. To treat yourself, wipe your nipples with a solution of of equal parts apple cider vinegar and water before and after each feeding. Rinse with warm sterile water to wipe away the taste, which your baby will definitely not like. If this doesn't work, use a no-sugar natural yogurt, which will eat away at the fungal infection. You should avoid all types of sugar and watch your intake of white flour products. Get as much rest as you can and avoid stress.
To treat an infant, mix eight drops each of the essential oils of tea tree and lavender with 2 tablespoons vegetable oil. After making sure your fingers are clean, wipe this solution on the insides of your baby's mouth, covering as much of the area as possible. Do this before and after each feeding. This should clear the infection in a couple days.
