Do Antibodies prevent pathogens from infecting other cells.?

Antibodies bind to antigens present on the surface of pathogens, thereby preventing their entry into host cells. In cases where antibodies alone cannot effectively neutralize pathogens, the complement system which is closely associated with antibodies , gets activated . Activation of the complement system results in lysis ( breakage ) of pathogens .Thus, antibodies provide both direct and indirect defense mechanisms.
