Things That Cause Tiredness

As a result of the hectic lifestyles people have these days, many will suffer tiredness at one point or another. Sometimes a good night's sleep is all that is required to fix the problem, but for some, the cause may not be a simple lack of sleep. There are various reasons for someone to suffer from tiredness or fatigue.
  1. Weight Related

    • A person's weight can often contribute to him feeling tired and lethargic all the time. If a person is overweight, the body has to work harder to support and carry around that extra weight just doing ordinary day-to-day tasks. This will result in the person becoming tired. Alternately, if a person is too slim, his body needs to work harder just to maintain simple things like maintaining its own body heat which results in the body becoming tired by completing simple tasks.

    Level of Physical Activity

    • If a person is not participating in some level of physical activity, this can actually result in him becoming tired. He can then become stuck in a vicious circle of needing to exercise to increase his energy levels but not having the energy required to participate in physical activities. Exercising can help beat tiredness by releasing the body's natural feel good hormones, endorphins, which give the body a natural boost. It also promotes the flow of oxygenated blood throughout the body which contributes to a more restful sleep.

    Illnesses

    • Sometimes a recent or current illness can be the cause of tiredness. Illnesses such as anemia and depression can cause tiredness as a result of the body being deficient in elements/chemicals it needs to function normally. You may also suffer tiredness if you are getting over a recent illness. Whether it's a serious illness like cancer or heart problems, or something more simple like the flu, the body requires more energy to fight off the illness, increasing fatigue.

    Lifestyle

    • Sometimes it is a person's lifestyle that will lead him to suffer from tiredness. Parents of babies and young children, especially nursing mothers, often suffer severe fatigue. People that have irregular sleep patterns such as shift workers often have trouble settling into refreshing sleep patterns as their body is not sure what state it is meant to be in. People that drink too many caffeinated drinks find it hard to go to sleep at the required time, resulting in tiredness.
