Side Effects of Oflox

Oflox, also known as ofloxacin, is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic used to kill sensitive types of bacteria that cause mild to moderate infections in individuals. The drug works by stopping the production of vital proteins needed to produce the bacteria, which in turn will help kill the infection. As with any other antibiotic, there are a number of side effects that can result from using the drug.
  1. Common Side Effects

    • Some of the side effects associated with using Oflox include dizziness, diarrhea, loss of appetite, nausea, headache, sensitivity to sunlight, vomiting and insomnia. While these are considered the most common side effects reported by users, they are also very rare and only affect a small number of users.

    Severe Side Effects

    • Unfortunately, there are also a number of severe side effects that can come as a result of using this medication. Some of these side effects include severe allergic reactions, bizarre behavior, increased irritation, confusion, bloody stools, depression, decreased urination, difficulty swallowing, fast or irregular heartbeat, hallucinations, severe stomach pains, vaginal irritation and discharge, and yellowing of the eyes and skin.

    Important Safety Information

    • Oflox has been known to cause extreme dizziness and tiredness in some individuals, so it is recommended that you do not operate any type of machinery (including an automobile) while using the drug. This medication may also cause you to be more prone to sunburn while outdoors, so if possible avoid direct contact with sunlight or artificial tanning booths. Be sure to tell your doctor that you are using this medication before undergoing any type of surgical procedure.

    Usage

    • Oflox is taken orally as a pill and should be taken with or without food. Be sure to consume the pill with a glass of eight ounces of water and do not break, chew or crush the pill to ingest it. To make sure the infection has been completed defeated, be sure to take the medication throughout the full course of treatment. If you miss a dosage, take the pill as soon as possible and never take two dosages at once.
