How to Cure Salmonella
Salmonella is a food-borne illness caused by the S. typhimurium and S. enteritidis bacterias, which are carried by foods contaminated with feces. Infected foods can include eggs, raw meat, poultry and seafood. Fruits and vegetables can carry the bacteria if they are washed with contaminated water. Contamination can also occur in food prepared by people who don't wash their hands after using the bathroom or by touching a contaminated object and then putting your fingers in your mouth.Things You'll Need

Salmonella Treatment
-
1
Drink plenty of water, particularly if you are suffering from diarrhea and/or vomiting. Salmonella can go away by itself, but dehydration is a potential complication.
-
2
Take antidiarrheal medication such as Imodium, which can be purchased over the counter, to control the cramping. This may prolong the diarrhea, however.
-
3
Go to your doctor if you have symptoms of dehydration such as sunken eyes, dry mouth, decreased urine output or reduced tear production. As well, eye irritation, painful joints or painful urination are symptoms of reactive arthritis.
-
4
Count the days you have had the symptoms of diarrhea, fever, headaches, stomach cramps, nausea or vomiting and/or blood in the stool. Symptoms should subside in five to seven days. If they don't, consult your physician.
-
5
Take antibiotics prescribed by your physician if he believes the bacteria has moved from the intestines to the bloodstream. This is known as bacteremia, a potentially life-threatening disease.
-
6
Wash your hands thoroughly, and don't prepare food or pour water for others as you can pass the disease on very easily. It is highly contagious.
