How to Spot Symptoms of a Yeast Infection
Yeast infections (known also as candidiasis or thrush) is a fungal infection. The yeast involved in these infections is naturally found in the body, but when an infection happens, there is an overproduction of the yeast. Yeast infections are most common as a vaginal irritation called vaginitis, but can happen on the male genitals, in the mouth, pharynx, esophagus or other areas of the body. While anyone can get them, children between the ages of 3 and 9, as well as women, are most commonly affected.Instructions

Notice itching. The most commonly found symptom is itching of the infected area. For vaginitis, this occurs in the genital region of the body. Often, washing the area is a good way to reduce the itch, but it may not stop it.

2
See the discharge. In nearly all forms of yeast infections, some white to white-gray discharge is seen. This often has a curd-like appearance. There does not have to be too much of the discharge, but it often is significant.

Feel the burning of the yeast infection. Of all symptoms, this is the most common one experienced by children and usually the reason that parents find out that their child has a yeast infection. The burning may increase during urination. This is also a symptom of a bladder infection. Both conditions need medical attention.

Experience irritation in the infected area and you could be experiencing a yeast infection. This can happen for many reasons including as a result of excess scratching or as a sign of inflammation in the area. Often, the irritated area will be red, painful to touch and may even have scabs.

Look at the infected area to notice any changes. In males, one of the most telltale signs of a yeast infection are red, patchy sores that present themselves on the head of the penis as well as on the foreskin. These can also be very painful.
