What is meant by swine fever?
Swine fever is characterized by a sudden onset of high fever, extreme lethargy, and a lack of appetite in infected pigs. Other symptoms may include coughing, diarrhoea, vomiting, haemorrhages, and the formation of ulcers in the skin. The virus can be transmitted through direct contact between pigs, through contact with contaminated feed, water, or surfaces, and through the ingestion of pork products from infected animals.
