1
Seek medical help. Hookworms may not cause any symptoms, but if you start to experience diarrhea and vomiting that may be accompanied by stomach pain, your doctor will ask questions to see how likely a hookworm infection is. A stool sample may be taken to provide a definite answer. If you are infected, you will be prescribed medication.

2
Take any pets to see a veterinarian. The veterinarian can test your pet for roundworms and prescribe treatment if necessary.
-
3
Wash any bedding or clothing that has been used by an infected person or pet. Include cuddly toys and dog beds. This is precautionary to prevent reinfection.
-
4
Ensure personal hygiene levels are high. Wash your hands after using the toilet, changing diapers and pick up pet stools. Ensure you have clean hands before preparing and eating food and disinfect the sink, kitchen and bathroom regularly.
