Why cant IVIG and live vaccines be given?

Immunoglobulin preparations contain antibodies that can neutralize the live attenuated virus vaccines. If IVIg is given within 4 weeks after administering MMR / OPV, the immune response to the MMR/OPV may not be adequate and the person might not develop expected protection against measles, mumps, rubella, and polio resulting in risk of infection.
