When does cholera occur?

Cholera usually occurs during the warm seasons (spring through autumn) in tropical and subtropical regions where there are heavy rains and flooding, and people do not have access to safe drinking water or proper sanitation. This is particularly true in areas with poor sanitation and inadequate access to clean water.

Cholera is a waterborne disease caused by the bacteria _Vibrio cholerae_. It is spread through contaminated water or food, and can cause severe diarrhea and vomiting. In severe cases, cholera can lead to dehydration and electrolyte imbalances, which can be life-threatening if not treated promptly.
