How is dengue fever spread?
Dengue fever is spread through the bite of an infected Aedes mosquito. The Aedes mosquito is a type of day-biting mosquito that typically bites during the morning and late afternoon. When an Aedes mosquito bites an infected person, the virus that causes dengue fever enters the mosquito's body. The virus then multiplies in the mosquito's salivary glands. When the mosquito bites another person, the virus is transmitted to that person.
Dengue fever cannot be spread from person to person. It can only be spread through the bite of an infected mosquito.
