What is RML pneumonia?

RML pneumonia stands for right middle lobe pneumonia. It is a type of pneumonia that affects the middle lobe of the right lung. Pneumonia is an infection of the lungs, usually caused by bacteria, viruses, or fungi.

RML pneumonia is not as common as other types of pneumonia, such as lobar pneumonia or bronchopneumonia. However, it can be serious, especially in people with weakened immune systems.

Symptoms of RML pneumonia include:

* Cough

* Fever

* Chills

* Shortness of breath

* Chest pain

* Nausea

* Vomiting

RML pneumonia is diagnosed with a chest X-ray. Treatment typically involves antibiotics and supportive care.

Most people with RML pneumonia recover with treatment. However, some people may develop complications, such as:

* Pleural effusion (fluid in the pleural space)

* Empyema (pus in the pleural space)

* Lung abscess

* Sepsis (a life-threatening bloodstream infection)

RML pneumonia can be prevented by:

* Getting vaccinated against pneumonia

* Practicing good hygiene, such as washing your hands frequently and covering your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze

* Avoiding contact with people who are sick
