I was prescribed with Amoxicillin for Bronchitis but am pretty sure a viral infection not bacterial they run any tests on my sputum this bad?
If you have a viral infection, antibiotics will not be effective in treating it. However, in some cases, bronchitis may be caused by a combination of a viral infection and a bacterial infection. In these cases, antibiotics may be prescribed to treat the bacterial infection.
Amoxicillin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that is commonly used to treat bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, including bronchitis. It is effective against a wide range of bacteria, including those that are commonly responsible for bronchitis.
If you are concerned that you have a viral infection and not a bacterial infection, you can discuss this with your doctor. They may decide to run further tests, such as a sputum culture, to confirm the diagnosis and determine the most appropriate treatment.
