How to Use Turmeric to Treat Babesia

Babesia is a tick-borne illness which resembles malaria in symptoms (these include fevers, aches, and joint pain). Anti-babesial properties of various herbs are of interest in third-world countries like India because of the prevalence of the illness as well as the lack of availability of widespread prescription medicine. Compounds in a certain type of turmeric have been shown to be effective within orders of magnitude of prescription drugs for babesia such as the medicine Ganaseg.

Use Curcuma zedoaria in your cooking to enhance the effectiveness of your prescription medicine. This herb called white turmeric contains compounds called zedoalactones which have been shown to be effective against babesia in culture. In fact, these compounds were shown to be up to one half, one eigth, and on thirtieth as effective as the anti-babesial medicine diminezine aceturate. White turmeric has also been shown to contain the active anti-babesial chemicals demethoxycyclocurcumin and dihydroxyxanthorrhizol as well.

Generally, curry powder can be added to taste to most stew. Sprinkle on simmering stew as you add ingredients, making as strong as you can tolerate. Zedoaria is traditionally prepared with less savory herbs than with yellow turmeric---use with herbs such as such as anise, lemongrass, coconut oil to prepare stews and soups.

Put white turmeric in empty gelatin capsules and take two to four capsules a day supplementally with food. Take one to two capsules with each meal. Use Curcuma zedoaria to reduce inflammatory properties of babesia, including fever, swelling, and pain. Eleven anti-inflammatory compounds from curcuma zedoaria have been discovered in the laboratory experiments.

To ease residual joint pain from babesia as you are convalescing, drink as a refreshing herbal tonic. Mix white turmeric with lemon and ginger, and add honey to taste. (Asian grocery stores also have pre-made turmeric-curcuma zedoaria drinks.) Heat two to three tablespoons of zedoaria in a saucepan for 5 minutes on low. Add one fourth cup of lime juice, two tablespoons of honey, and add mixture over ice in a ten ounce glass. Add or subtract ingredients to taste.
