If the symptoms do not resolve within a week of using over-the-counter medications, consult a doctor for prescription products. Prescriptions include stronger versions of topical creams and oral medications (e.g., Lamisil tablets) to take once daily. Oral treatment may be necessary for up to four months to resolve symptoms and completely remove the fungus from the affected area.
