Can you conceive one day after intercourse?

While it is possible for fertilization to occur the same day as intercourse, leading to conception, the chances are relatively low. Generally, the fertile window for conception during a woman's menstrual cycle is usually around 5 days before ovulation and the day of ovulation. The egg released during ovulation has a lifespan of about 12-24 hours, and sperm cells can live inside a woman's reproductive tract for up to 5 days.

For conception to occur, the sperm cells need to reach the fallopian tubes and fertilize the egg before it disintegrates. If intercourse happens on the same day as ovulation or in the preceding days, there might be sperm present in the fallopian tubes to fertilize the egg when it is released. However, the chances of conceiving immediately after intercourse are not as high as having intercourse during the fertile window.

Factors such as the timing of ovulation, sperm count and motility, and individual variations can influence the chances of conception. It is important to remember that conception depends on several factors, and it may not happen every time there is intercourse.
