Can your period cause you to have a miscarriage?

A period cannot cause a miscarriage, as a period occurs when a pregnant woman is not experiencing pregnancy and the fertilized egg does not successfully implant or grow into a fetus; therefore there is no pregnancy to miscarry. A miscarriage only occurs during a pregnancy which results in the embryo or fetus exiting the body of the pregnant woman, often before it was due to be born; it does not refer to the shedding of the endometrium lining that occurs during monthly menstruation cycles before or after pregnancy. Miscarriages usually happen within the first 13 weeks of gestation (three months).
