Cyclopam Side Effects

Cyclopam or dicyclomine hydrochloride is a prescription drop available in India and used to treat irritable bowel syndrome. Despite its effectiveness, Cyclopam poses a risk for side effects in some patients.

    • Possible side effects of Cyclopam include headaches, flushing, nervousness, weakness, dizziness, confusion, insomnia, fevers, pupil dilation, blurred vision, nasal congestion, decreased or difficult urination, sweating and impotence.

    Risks

    • Some patients develop a condition called anticholinergic psychosis while taking Cyclopam, causing disorientation, memory loss, loss of coordination and even coma. Cyclopam also has the potential to increase pressure levels in your eyes, putting you at risk for glaucoma.

    • Some patients develop potentially life-threatening allergic reactions to Cyclopam, causing rashes, severe red skin welts, shortness of breath, chest pains and even anaphylactic shock.

    Considerations

    • Cyclopam is not safe for children under six months of age, and nursing mothers who take the drug frequently experience loss of milk production. If you have a history of neuropathy, hyperthyroidism, hypertension, heart disease, hiatal hernia or conditions affecting your prostate, your doctor may not prescribe Cyclopam for you due to its potential side effects.
