Why is my Period almost over but still cramping?
Common causes of cramping after your period include:- Uterine contractions: Even after your period has stopped, your uterus may continue to contract to return to its normal size. These contractions can cause cramps.
- Prostaglandins: Prostaglandins are hormone-like substances that help cause the muscles of your uterus to contract during your period. High levels of prostaglandins can also cause cramping after your period.
- Endometriosis: Endometriosis is a condition in which tissue that lines the uterus (the endometrium) grows outside of the uterus. This can cause pain, including cramps, at any time during your menstrual cycle, including after your period.
- Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID): PID is an infection of the female reproductive organs. It can cause a variety of symptoms, including cramps, pain, and fever.
- Ovulation: Ovulation occurs when an egg is released from one of your ovaries. This can cause cramps, which may be mistaken for period cramps.
If you are experiencing severe or persistent cramps after your period, it is important to see your doctor to rule out any underlying medical conditions.
