I am 12years old and have been getting stomach aches right now i feel sick ive grown a bit taller does this mean im about to start my period?
Starting your period around this age is typical. If you haven't started your period yet, you may be starting puberty, which is the process of your body changing from being a child's to an adult's. During puberty, you will grow taller, your body shape will start to change, and you will start to menstruate (have periods). Some people also experience stomach aches, headaches, and mood changes during puberty.
Starting a menstrual cycle can bring about feelings of embarrassment and discomfort. It's important to be prepared and have someone you trust to talk to for emotional and practical support. Here are some signs that may indicate you're about to start your period:
- Pelvic cramps: You may experience achy or cramping sensations in your lower abdomen, near the uterus, especially a day or two before and during menstruation.
- Breast tenderness: Your breasts may become swollen, tender, or lumpy before your period. This is due to hormonal changes that occur during the menstrual cycle.
- Mood swings: You may experience mood changes, such as irritability, sadness, or anxiety. This can be attributed to hormonal fluctuations associated with menstruation.
- Skin changes: You may notice breakouts or changes in skin texture and oiliness, which can also be influenced by hormonal fluctuations.
- Appetite and sleep disturbances: You may experience appetite changes, such as increased cravings or decreased appetite, as well as sleep disruptions, including insomnia or excessive sleep.
If you are experiencing these symptoms, it is a good idea to talk to your doctor or a trusted adult for further guidance and support as they can help you learn more about your period and answer any questions you may have.
