Consider treating IBS with a mix of indirect medications, such as laxatives, in consultation with a physician. Laxatives ease constipation and IBS. Drugs to reduce colon spasms are also available. In some cases, a doctor may suggest an antidepressant to relieve stress and abdominal pain.
