Can you faint passing a kidney stone?
While passing a kidney stone can be a very painful experience, it is highly unlikely to cause fainting (syncope). Fainting is a sudden, brief loss of consciousness that is caused by a temporary decrease in blood flow to the brain. It is usually triggered by a sudden drop in blood pressure or by a sudden increase in heart rate. Kidney stones, on the other hand, are hard mineral and salt deposits that can form in the kidneys and can cause pain when they move through the urinary tract. However, they do not typically cause the type of sudden changes in blood pressure or heart rate that would lead to fainting. If you experience fainting along with passing a kidney stone it is important to seek medical attention, as it could be a sign of an underlying medical condition.
