Kidney Dysfunction & Skin Disorder
Kidney dysfunction slows the kidneys’ ability to eliminate waste and excess fluids from the body. Over time, kidney functions worsen without treatment. Skin disorders are outward symptoms of abnormal kidney functions.-
Pruritus

Pruritus, or itchy skin, is a common symptom of kidney dysfunction. Itching and dryness occurs either in one area or all over the body and leads to other skin conditions.
Prurigo Nodularis
-
Prurigo nodularis, a secondary skin condition resulting from pruritus, appears as hard, crusty lumps. The American Osteopathic College of Dermatology says scratching stimulates prurigo nerves.
Neurotic Excoriations
-
Neurotic excoriations, a skin disorder that develops from kidney dysfunction, results from pruritus itching. The excessive scratching produces lesions that require antibiotics to prevent further infections.
Dry Skin
-
Dry skin in people suffering from kidney dysfunction indicates dehydration. Avoid salts because they increase dehydration and also overwork your kidneys.
Skin Darkening
-
The U.S. National Library of Medicine says darkening of the skin occurs with kidney dysfunctions. Dark patches of skin appear on areas of the body exposed to the sun.
