What is roxidolin?

Roxidolin (INN), or 6-methoxy-3-methyl-7-isoquinolinol, is a 7-isoquinolinol derivative developed as an antiviral drug. It was investigated for the treatment of common cold, influenza, and viral encephalitis, but was never marketed due to insufficient clinical efficacy and significant toxicity.
