How to Kill Lupus Candida
Lupus patients have altered immune systems. Also, many are on treatments that suppress the immune system. Therefore, lupus patients are more susceptible than most to infections such as candida, commonly known as "thrush." Thrush is the most common fungal infection seen in lupus patients. Candida albicans is the most common species of the candida family, commonly infecting the mouth, throat, and vagina (as "yeast infections").Things You'll Need
- Hydrogen peroxide solution (three percent)
- Cotton swabs

1
Use a home remedy, if you don't want to go to the doctor just yet. Do so by cutting a three percent hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) solution to half-strength by mixing it one-to-one with water. Scrape off the white coating in your mouth, so the H2O2 can be applied directly to the red sores underneath. Apply the solution with a cotton swab. Then swish and gargle with the rest of the solution to get the rest of the mouth and the throat. Don't swallow it.

2
Go to a doctor if the whiteness of the thrush is too far back in the throat to reach with the H2O2 solution, or if the solution has not led to improvement within a week. The doctor will prescribe one of several possible antifungal medications, as listed in the eCureMe link in the Resources section below.

Warn any doctors about your thrush, before they prescribe antibiotics for any other problems you may have. Antibiotics throw off the bacterial mix and can make the thrush problem worse.
