Do all ticks carry lyme disease?

Not all ticks carry Lyme disease. Only certain species of ticks can transmit the bacteria that causes Lyme disease, and even within those species, only a small percentage of ticks are actually infected. The ticks that are most commonly associated with Lyme disease are the blacklegged tick (Ixodes scapularis) in the eastern United States and the western blacklegged tick (Ixodes pacificus) in the western United States. Other species of ticks that can transmit Lyme disease include the lone star tick (Amblyomma americanum) and the American dog tick (Dermacentor variabilis).

It's important to note that not all bites from an infected tick will result in Lyme disease. The likelihood of developing Lyme disease depends on factors such as the species of tick, the duration of the bite, and the individual's immune response.
