Lyme Disease Association

Lyme disease is a tick-borne condition that can pose serious threats to your health if you leave it untreated. The Lyme Disease Association (LDA) is a national non-profit organization based in New Jersey, with more than 30 affiliates, local chapters and partners throughout the United States (see Resources). The LDA offers a variety of services to help raise public awareness about Lyme disease.
  1. Publications

    • The LDA puts out several publications in print and in various media formats that help educate people about the symptoms of Lyme disease, how to remove ticks and ways to prevent infection. Many of these publications are available for free via the LDA website.

    Research

    • One of the functions of the LDA is to research Lyme disease, including transmission methods, treatment protocols and possibly vaccines that may be developed in the future.

    Fundraising

    • The LDA raises funds to open research centers and for other causes associated with Lyme disease. Fundraising events are held throughout the country several times each year.

    Support

    • Patients with Lyme disease can get involved in support groups with the help of the LDA. The LDA is affiliated with LymeNet, a resource for locating support for LDA sufferers (see Resources).

    Referrals

    • Finding a doctor who specializes in Lyme disease is another important service provided by the LDA (see Resources).
