How to Stop Snoring in the Mouth

Snoring in the mouth occurs when your jaw area relaxes enough to become misaligned, causing a blocked passageway and the result can be a loud and annoying snore. While many people find that doing something as simple as sleeping on their side or refraining from alcohol consumption before bed can help prevent snoring, it's sometimes necessary to take a more solid precaution. By creating a custom fit mouthpiece, you can completely stop the snoring, according to The Health Care Center.

Instructions

    • 1

Fill a medium saucepan about halfway with water. Bring to a boil.

    • 2

Put three cups of cold water in a bowl and set aside.

    • 3

Drop a mouthguard piece, found in sporting goods stores or online, into the boiling water for 10 seconds. Hold it by the longer piece of plastic in the front so the entire mouthpiece is submerged.

    • 4

Remove the mouthpiece from the boiling water and dip it into the bowl of cold water for two seconds.

    • 5

Set the mouthpiece in your mouth and gently bite down on it. When the piece is completely formed around your mouth, remove it and rinse with water.

    • 6

Put the mouthpiece in when you go to bed. In the morning, remove it and clean by rinsing with mouthwash and water.
