Benefits From Candida Shots
Candida albicans is a yeast fungus that grows naturally in the human body. A weak or inefficient immune system may allow the organism to proliferate and cause localized illness, like a vaginal yeast infection or thrush in the throat. A systemic infection can develop as well. Keeping Candida in check requires a strong immune system. In recent years, doctors have begun using Candida and the immune system to create a novel treatment for an age-old problem: warts.-
Common Warts
-
A University of Arkansas study published in the Archives of Dermatology in 2001 found that 74 percent of patients whose warts were treated with injections of the Candida antigen reported resolution of their warts. This was compared with 55 percent of patients who reported success after their warts were treated with cryotherapy. Furthermore, this study reported that many patients who had warts on other areas of their bodies saw those warts resolve as well.
Plantar Warts
-
Dr. Harvey Lemont, reporting in the journal Podiatry Today, reports that Candida antigen injections make an effective treatment for plantar warts on the foot. He recommends three weekly injections consisting of equal parts lidocaine and Candida antigen.
Chronic Candidiasis
-
Controversy rages over whether Candida hypersensitivity syndrome, also called yeast overgrowth, even exists. Doctors C.O. Truss and William Crook, however, have each written independently on this topic, and they assert that it can be treated using immunotherapy with Candida antigen injections.
