Micardis is a drug used to control high blood pressure. It is one of a group of drugs called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. However, like many drugs, Micardis does have side effect and some dangers if not used as directed.

Though harmful if taken at any point during a pregnancy, Micardis is especially dangerous if taken in the second or third trimester. You run the risk of injuring the baby or even killing it. Micardis can also get into breast milk and harm your baby, so breast-feeding mothers should not take the drug either.

    Side Effects

More serious side effects include dizziness, pain in the chest, problems with urination, swelling in the extremities and a shortness of breath.       In some extremely rare cases, Micardis has been known to cause the breakdown tissue in the skeletal system which causes kidney failure. If you are experiencing any muscle pain, fever or dark-colored urine while taking Micardis, contact your doctor immediately.
