Diagnosis of chronic prostate pain is done by collecting your urine for testing and by a digital rectal exam of the prostate. Blood work may be done to test for prostate specific antigen levels.
Symptoms

Chronic prostate pain symptoms commonly include urinary irritation, frequent bladder infections, frequent urination and persistent pain in the lower abdomen or back.
Treatments

Chronic prostate pain treatments usually include anti-inflammatory medications, muscle relaxants, taking hot baths, learning to relax while urinating, drinking extra fluids and ejaculating frequently.
Identification

Pain that persists in the pelvic region for at least three months and interferes with your daily life could be chronic prostate pain.
Considerations

Chronic prostate pain is difficult to treat. Treatment often is not effective in relieving all your symptoms. Additional treatment that might be considered would involve sacral nerve stimulation, biofeedback, prostatic massage and minimally invasive prostatic procedures.
