Foods to Avoid with Thrush Mouth
-
Acidic Foods
-
Eating acidic foods will aggravate the sores and worsen pain. Acidic foods include coffee, alcohol, carbonated beverages, orange juice, and other citrus fruits.
Processed Sugar
-
Candida feeds on simple (table) sugar. If you have thrush, you do not want to eat foods that will contribute to its growth. Avoid cookies, cakes, candy, ice cream, and sodas.
Yeast
-
Foods with yeast are also problematic since thrush is itself a yeast infection. Yeast is found in cheese, beer, many types of breads, bagels, pretzels, grape juice, and anything made with MSG.
Beneficial Foods
-
Certain foods can facilitate healing. They include yogurt, which is rich in probiotics and can help fight off harmful fungus, and raw garlic, which is a strong antifungal agent. Eat one clove daily; you can swallow it whole, and chewing is not necessary.
