Hemorrhoid Injection Treatment

Hemorrhoids are inflamed veins near the lower rectal and anus regions. Exertion of increased pressure on the veins as a result of constipation or diarrhea is a common cause of the condition. Treatments like sclerotherapy and surgery are commonly used to cure hemorrhoids.
  1. Identification

    • A physical checkup of the anus and the rectum helps in detecting hemorrhoids. If the results of the physical exam prove to be inconclusive, a light might be used to check the regions for abnormal swellings.

    Sclerotherapy

    • Sclerotherapy involves injecting chemicals into a vein to promote withering and drying up of the hemorrhoid tissues.

    Time Frame

    • Sclerotherapy sessions are generally held three to four times a week for nearly a month, with each session lasting 30 to 45 minutes.

    Effects

    • Blood clotting, infections and inflammation are possible complications of sclerotherapy when used to treat hemorrhoids.

    Prevention/Solution

    • A diet rich in fibers and drinking eight to 10 glasses of water a day are recommended by the Mayo Clinic to regulate bowel movements and prevent hemorrhoids.
